Melissa Servedio is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey and has been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. Melissa received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Kean University with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health. Previously, she has worked in multiple school based programs, providing individual, group, and family counseling to students of all ages and their families. Prior to coming to Ellie Mental Health, Melissa worked as a therapist in a group private practice for 7.5 years, where she also served as the Practice Administrator for 5 of those years.
Clinically, she treats primarily adults struggling with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, adjustment related difficulties, family stressors, and relationship struggles. She also has specialized training and experience working with those who have lost someone to suicide. Melissa also has a lot of experience and enjoys working with young adults as they work through and experience a variety of life transitions.
Further, Melissa has facilitated grief support groups for youth coping with loss. Melissa loves volunteering and has done so on telephone/online crisis and sexual assault hotlines. Melissa works from a strength-based approach with her clients, while often using many treatment methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, in order to challenge a client’s unhelpful thinking pattern and provide the client with the skills/tools needed to navigate the challenges the client is currently experiencing or has experienced in the past.
