#LiveAuthentic With Professional Counseling Services
Ellie Mental Health in Grand Rapids, Minnesota isn’t your average therapy clinic. We’ve created a comfy, judgment-free zone where you can be authentic, get real about where you’re at in your mental health, and receive the compassionate care you deserve. We strive to break down treatment barriers and provide you with customized counseling services that meet your therapy needs.
Work one-on-one with a therapist who will provide you with mental health care individualized to your needs. Whether you are seeking treatment for a mental illness, support for a recent life change, or help in a specific area of your life, individual therapy is just between you and your therapist.
Attend therapy session with your partner – whether you’re just dating, engaged, or married. Couples therapy is a safe place to talk through relationship issues with a counselor you can trust, get help navigating a divorce, or build a strong foundation for the future.
Attend therapy from the comfort and convenience of your home, or wherever else you have an internet connection. With online therapy, you get deep with your therapist while sipping tea in your favorite comfy chair, snuggled in your pajamas, or between work meetings.
Work through family conflict with a therapist who can facilitate the conversation, work through harmful patterns, and improve communication skills. Family therapy is a group effort – bring your partner, the kids, the in-laws, stepchildren, your siblings, or whoever else is involved with your family dynamic.
If a combination of therapy and medication management is the right treatment path for your mental health needs, our psychiatric prescriber can prescribe, evaluate, and manage your medication. Our prescribers work closely with your therapist to ensure you are receiving the best treatment possible.
Children are not immune to emotional or psychological challenges, and younger kids may struggle to express difficult emotions or talk about trauma. Play therapy allows children to process and express how they’re feeling, learn healthy coping skills, and strengthen behavioral and communication skills.
Loss and bereavement can be immobilizing. You might not know how to move forward or what comes next. Grief therapy provides you with professional support as you work through loss, process any trauma, and navigate next steps.
Work through unresolved trauma and identify the areas of your life that trauma has impacted. Trauma-informed therapy means working with a therapist who has a deep understanding of the may ways trauma can affect your life and your overall sense of self, safety, and well-being.
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy
EMDR is a cutting-edge, evidence-backed treatment approach for treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and a wide range of mental health disorders. EMDR therapy often involves you talking about your trauma while moving your eyes back and forth to reprocess the traumatic experience.
When in the hands of therapists, physicians, and nurse practitioners, psychedelics can be used as an integrative healing approach that opens the mind and helps with a wide range of mental health disorders. INTERO provides psychedelic therapy in Minnesota.

Meet Your Therapist at Grand Rapids
Andrea Hofstad, LGSWAndrea is compassionate and encouraging and believes mental wellness is a journey. Her calm, approachable demeanor and cultural sensitivity creates a positive, safe environment where clients feel comfortable sharing. Andrea began her career in social work at Hazelden, a chemical dependency adult treatment center. In 2000, she moved north to Grand Rapids, MN with her family and provided in-home services with families to address a variety of mental health needs. In this role, she worked with families to address family conflict and communication difficulties while supporting family members of all ages. Andrea later went to work in a rural school to address mental health concerns for students aging 8-19. She was able to identify a need for addressing students on a deeper level with their historical and current trauma related issues. Andrea has experience working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger control, parenting strategies, oppositional defiant, low self-esteem, and suicidality. She has over 20 years of experience working with familial conflicts, parent/child relationships, incarcerated parents, grief and loss, and chemical dependency. Andrea believes in learning and actively listening to client’s values and unique experiences to create an understanding of the whole person.

Brookelyn is excited to be working in the mental health field and to use her skills and passion to help others. Brookelyn's biggest goal is to make a difference in others' lives.

Danielle Kaderlik, MSW, LICSW
Danielle "Dani," is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who is trained in Brainspotting. What does all of this jargon mean? Basically a bunch of fancy language for someone who is passionate, energetic, and creative in helping YOU find your inner strengths and resources. But how, you might ask? Dani recognizes that everyone comes from a different walk of life with different experiences. She will pull from various therapy modalities to meet your individualized therapy goals/needs. Dani is passionate about Brainspotting and you will likely hear about it when you meet with her. A quick snapshot of what this means: Brainspotting is designed to help people access, process, and overcome trauma, negative emotions, and pain, including psychologically induced physical pain. Dani enjoys working with adolescents or young adults but has experience working with all ages.
When Dani is not at work, she is likely playing in the dirt in her garden, running or training for a half marathon (because, why not?), spending time with her two dogs, being with friends and family, or reading Harry Potter for the 100th time.
Emily is a grad student finishing up her last year of school to obtain her Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She believes deeply in the wellness model of health. If we think of our health as a wheel, we need all aspects (social, physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, occupational, and financial) firing appropriately or we get a "flat tire".
Emily is also a personal trainer and fitness coach. In her spare time you will never catch her running, but she does enjoy lifting weights and teaching others how empowering physical fitness can be. Some of her favorite hobbies include kayaking, walking her dog, and hiking.
Supporting individuals in their wellness journey has always been Emily's passion and she is over the moon excited to get started and meet YOU.
Hannah Barnes, MSW, LGSW
Hannah is a compassionate therapist who believes that everyone is doing the best they can. Hannah’s approach to therapy is based around each person’s strengths and the belief that people are the experts of their own life.
Hannah’s therapeutic approach embraces compassion and authenticity in supporting each person as they explore their inner thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Hannah enjoys incorporating art-based mindfulness techniques and other creative methods in practice to embrace healing by fully engaging mind and body. This allows clients to engage in a more experiential therapy.
Hannah’s passion lies in working with all ages, but she has an extensive background working with at-risk youth and their families. She is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), which is an evidence-based approach to treating trauma in children and adolescents ages 3 - 18 years old. Hannah is certified in Anti-Human Trafficking which primarily focused on prevention and best practices, to help empower people who are survivors of human trafficking, both domestically and trans-nationally. Hannah’s knowledge encompasses both forced labor and sexual exploitation.
When Hannah is not at work you will likely find her outside with her family fishing, going for walks, or searching for adventure. Hannah also enjoys all things art, and personal time where she can binge watch Netflix or immerse herself in her favorite video game.
Kylie Olson, MEd
Kylie is a warm, energetic, and authentic therapist under supervision. She is passionate about collaborating with individuals to create hope and healing. She is dedicated in providing an encouraging environment to foster growth.
Kylie completed her Master's of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Dakota State University. Her theoretical approach to counseling is based in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. You can expect a rather eclectic approach, pulling in bits and pieces of all counseling modalities to fit client needs. Kylie particularly loves working with adolescents and young adults, although she has experience with those of all ages ranging from children to older adults.
Outside of work, Kylie loves to spend time at the lake, petting her dogs (or others' dogs!) and looking at new plant babies to add to her collection. You can catch her reading a good book or spending quality time with others.
