Josh’s education includes an Associate of Arts in Human Services from Laramie County Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences from University of Wyoming, and a Masters of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Josh has worked in various roles in the mental health field with all ages, but he has specialized in work with children and adolescents since 2008, including a stint working in residential treatment centers with adolescents. Josh also has experience providing substance use treatment with adults.
Josh’s specialized emphasis is working with early childhood, children, and teenagers using various forms of child/teen-centered therapy and he is an expert in working with people with ADHD. He completed his certification in Play Therapy at the University of Wyoming in May 2023 and really enjoys spending time engaged with any aged child or teen. Josh also utilizes the adult theoretical models of DBT, CBT, and EMDR (since 2019). Uniquely, Josh uses EMDR with children ages 12 and over as well.
Josh comes from the strengths-based belief that children and adults are doing the best they can with what they got in life, and that they want to do better and/or someone around them believes in them and wants them to do better.
One of Josh’s hobbies is finding a good joke and telling it to everyone around him. He also loves spending time exploring Wyoming, Colorado and the Mountain West region through the eyes of foreign exchange students. And he is constantly trying to find different ways to live a healthy and clean lifestyle!
