Hi Therapy Seekers! My name is Mekiela Dorough, however, I go by “Meka.” I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensed to practice in the state of Texas and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I graduated from the University of Houston – Victoria (UHV) with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have three years of experience and most of my experience stems from working with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, various life stressors, abuse, PTSD, trauma, self-esteem, and relational conflict. I am familiar with serving adolescents, teens, families, adults, elderly, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community ranging from ages 16 and up. Treatment modalities I frequent are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution focused brief therapy (SFBT), person centered therapy, and mindfulness-based therapy. However, I utilize whatever treatment modality is needed for the individual during sessions. I enjoy social and competitive structured dancing, ATV riding, traveling, spending time with family and close friends, and DIY projects! My goal is to provide a collaborative approach to find a healthy balance in one’s life. In an environment free from judgment, I will provide a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their feelings and work towards personal growth.
