William Allen Burns, MA, LPCC

Therapist

Allen’s goal as a therapist is to help each client find their own path to a thriving life on their terms. He believes it is important to bring his courage, curiosity, patience and compassion to each session and he encourages his clients to bring theirs. He works to create a therapeutic environment of acceptance, hope, and healing where insight grows and new options can be explored safely.

He helps each client to explore how their internal system of beliefs, thoughts, needs, desires, and reactions contribute to their behaviors, choices, and consequences. Finding and releasing internal burdens frees resources and leads to new outlooks and opportunities.

Using tai chi, meditation, and yoga, he has seen the benefits of mindfulness practice in his own life and has studied the research on it. As a result, he encourages each client to develop and maintain a mindfulness practice of their own. Allen is an avid reader; he is a big fan of Mark Twain and Louise Erdrich. He also enjoys hiking, biking, and travel. One of his goals is to explore each of Minnesota’s state parks — and he is well on his way.
