Rebecca McNamee, APSW

Therapist

Rebecca holds that two of the most important things she does during a session are to create a safe place for vulnerability to thrive and to remind clients of truths- you are a human being with complex needs, who is inherently worthy of being heard and seen, and who is fully capable of achieving the outcomes you envision for yourself. Rebecca is knowledgeable about the mind-body connection and frequently uses body-based interventions to help clients manage the symptoms of chronic stress and shame.

Most recently, Rebecca worked in both hospice care and outpatient counseling. She provided supportive counseling to patients and their families to help address anticipatory grief and to promote positive adaptation after loss. She is passionate about helping others adapt to life with grief in a society that often tries to ignore it.

Rebecca utilizes an existential and strengths-focused approach to help empower clients. She draws from principles of IFS to encourage exploration of how the parts inside us work together to bring about the perceptions and behaviors we present. It’s Rebecca’s goal to meet a client in their reality and together find strengths during hard times and beauty in the world.
