Phillip Benavides is a licensed professional counselor, born and raised in Texas. After graduating with his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University, he continued on at Texas A&M University- Commerce where he earned a Master of Science in Community Counseling. Phillip does not believe that anyone is “broken” or too far gone, and he is passionate about working with clients afflicted with a variety of circumstances, including those who simply feel lost and yearn to “find themselves.” He believes that the essential keys to promote growth include self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-expression. Experiencing genuineness toward oneself, expressing emotions effectively, and practicing the discipline of presence are all part of the therapeutic process. Phillip employs an approach that is built upon the foundations Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, while also incorporating perspectives and techniques from Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Gestalt, and mindfulness, all while providing culturally competent therapy services to a diversifying population. Creating just noticeable differences becomes the first step toward a fully realized and connected life.
