Melissa McDonald, MSW, LGSW

Therapist

Melissa is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker who believes that change and growth are possible for everyone. She believes in working with people to help them identify their strengths, needs, and motivations, and utilizes a variety of treatment methods to best support her clients in their path forward. These methods may include elements from narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, strengths-based therapy, and/or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to encourage clients in goal setting, strengthening skills, and achieving growth. Melissa strives to support clients in finding and exercising their autonomy and advocating for themselves in their therapeutic journey and their everyday lives. She roots her practice in the concept that clients are the experts of their own lives but may need outside perspective or support to examine past experiences and/or move through them. Melissa encourages transparency between herself and clients about needs and progress and holds space without judgment. When she is not at work, Melissa enjoys spending time with family (including three cats) and is an avid LEGO collector. She also appreciates learning random trivia and finding joy in unexpected places.
