Family Nurse Practitioner

Kelli Sue Thompson, NP-C, brings more than 30 years of nursing experience to Ellie Mental Health-Central NW Austin. She began her nursing career in 1995 graduating from The University of Texas. She has worked in many fields as a nurse and brings countless experiences to our Clinic.

She became a nurse practitioner in 2015 and holds a Master of Science from Texas State University. The program Kelli Sue completed was based on techniques and theories of integrative healthcare. This makes Kelli Sue an exceptional fit for Ellie Mental Health-Central NW Austin as integrative and holistic therapies are vital for our mental health.

Kelli Sue has a history of pain management practice however she has transitioned to addiction medicine treating alcohol, opioid and other substance use disorders. She also works with individuals 18 and older with ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, mood, and sleep disorders.

She has the utmost respect for the complexities of everyone’s unique mental health care needs and is dedicated to exceptional patient care while creating a trusting relationship with her patients. Kelli Sue has worked with many populations and age groups over the years making her a culturally competent practitioner. She naturally provides a safe and nonjudgmental space for her patients to share their deepest thoughts and feelings. Her goal will always be to meet the patient exactly where they are at in their journey towards healing.

Additionally, Kelli Sue has a passion for suicide prevention and has participated in The Out of the Darkness Walks for many years with the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention in which she is an original founder of the Central Texas Chapter.

She also enjoys time with her family, experiencing new and challenging outdoor activities, watching amusing movies, reading, and volunteering. She also loves to fish and visit the beach whenever she has the chance!
