Kate is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Registered Yoga Teacher who believes in the power of therapy to facilitate transformation and healing. Kate’s training in Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy, sense of humor, and intersectional lens form the foundation of her practice. Kate believes that building authentic connections with her clients is essential to the therapeutic process.
Kate takes a holistic approach to therapy by drawing from a variety of therapeutic methods and her own intuition to support clients wherever they are. Kate’s goal is to create a safe space for clients to unwind, unpack, and unlearn while simultaneously empowering clients to build self-attunement, perspective, and confidence to make meaningful change. Kate believes that mental health must be contextualized within interpersonal, societal, and cultural systems, and that emotions are meant to be understood, not controlled.
Since 2011, Kate has worked in multiple clinical settings, including non-profits, multidisciplinary healthcare facilities, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, and clinical research. Kate has professional experience working with trauma, anxiety, eating and body image issues, depression, substance use and addiction, and relationship issues. Kate particularly enjoys supporting clients with embodiment, self-discovery, LGBTQIA+ issues, and other things that may be difficult to name but are no less important.
When not working at Ellie, you can find Kate on their yoga mat, playing cribbage with a cup of tea, and skiing in the winter (preferably on fresh powder days).
