Edgar is a bilingual Licensed Associate Counselor who has provided mental health services for several years. He received a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kean University and completed additional hours of alcohol and drug education for specialized training in substance abuse treatment. He also continues to develop his expertise in working with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, stress management, relationship issues and trauma victims. Edgar has worked in multiple therapeutic environments, including residential, detox, outpatient, and reentry services. Edgar approaches therapy with the following understanding: “An abnormal reaction to an abnormal situation is normal behavior”-Victor Frankl. Edgar places emphasis on normalizing the human experience, working collaboratively with clients to enhance insight and awareness of maladaptive patterns in thinking, feeling, and behaving. He believes the therapeutic process works to empower clients toward actionable change, to embrace healing, and balance the mind-body connection.
