April is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults. Prior to working at Ellie, April has worked across the continuum of care including inpatient hospital, partial hospital, intensive outpatient, school, community, and outpatient settings.
April believes the most important aspect of therapy is the therapist-client relationship. She seeks to create a safe, collaborative environment that strikes a balance between support, empathy, and “therapeutic challenging” when appropriate. She uses an eclectic therapy approach to meet people where they are at. April has experience utilizing DBT skills, CBT skills, and narrative therapies as well as solution-focused strategies to assist clients in meeting their personal goals. She has a special interest in Mindfulness and believes we can all benefit from being more mindful in our day-to-day lives.
Outside of work, April enjoys crafting, reading fiction, traveling, binge-watching bad tv, and perfecting her cookie recipes. She’s also a huge Minnesota Vikings fan, plant enthusiast, and proud cat lady.
