Alex Smith, MA, LPCC

Therapist

Alexandra (Alex) brings openness, warmth, and a desire to genuinely understand who people are and what matters to them. Tending towards an honest and authentic style, Alex believes therapy should be a place in which clients feel safe and accepted but also empowered to change what isn’t working for them. She draws from a range of therapeutic approaches and techniques, including mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Alex has extensive experience treating anger, anxiety, addiction, relational trauma, and interpersonal issues. She’s worked in a wide range of settings including community, inpatient, residential and outpatient clinics. She has also spent several years providing supervision, training and development for pre-licensed therapists.

Outside of work, you’ll find Alex hiking with her rescue dogs, watching obscure documentaries or reading psychological thrillers. Alex also loves to write. She has been covering mental health issues for a national magazine for nearly a decade, and hopes to one day publish her own novel (a psychological thriller, naturally).
