David Anderson, MA

Therapist

David works well with folks who feel different from others, folks who can’t get their brain to be quiet, folks who want to enjoy life more. He has a passion for working with people with multiple challenges such as mood disorders (e.g. anxiety or depression) and neurodivergent cognition (e.g. autism).

David begins a working relationship with clients by getting to know them. It all works better if we know each other, feel safe and are affirmed. Next, we will consider some coping skills to respond to whatever brought the client to make an appointment – he understands most people don’t sign up for therapy for fun. After some stability is attained, he uses cognitive behavioral therapy, psychotherapy and psychoeducation to help each client resolve underlying causes, such as misunderstood messages from youth, to prevent negative symptoms from returning. He also uses positive psychology to support clients in seeking purpose, fulfillment and greater wellness in their lives.

For fun, David enjoys making things out of metal, wood and food ingredients (not all at the same time!)
