Yara Akkeh is a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) who received her master’s in social work from Boston University, and specializes in working with adolescents, families, and young adults. She sees clients both in-person and virtually.
Yara has previously worked in partial hospitalization, community health, and outpatient settings. Using a compassionate, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed lens, she supports people struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, eating disorders, adjustment disorders, and more. Yara has worked with clients with a diverse range of identities, including immigrants, first-generation children, and multi-stressed families.
Yara collaborates with clients using a strengths-based approach and integrates her knowledge of multiple modalities to individualize treatment for each person. She uses elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solutions-Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and more. She also draws from relational cultural approaches and liberation health to support people in healing within relationships and navigating the world around them. Yara is a strong believer in the importance of the therapeutic relationship, and practices with compassion, transparency, and humor to meet people where they’re at, while using their strengths to explore challenges and achieve personal growth.
