Valerie Petre, LMSW

Therapist

Val is a fully licensed clinical social worker that specializes in working with individuals with personality disorders, suicidality, relationship issues, childhood trauma, anxiety, depression and co-occurring disorders. Through mindful awareness and a strengths-focused approach, she helps her clients develop an inner sense of safety while reconnecting parts of themselves that have fragmented. Her approach for working with clients begins by building a relationship rooted in trust and respect. Together, Val and her clients identify how past traumatic experiences may have influenced their physical and emotional wellness; helping her clients to ride the powerful waves of life to reach the calm, peaceful still waters within.

The approaches Val most frequently utilizes include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Values Identification and Clarification, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Val welcomes individuals of all backgrounds (an LGBTQTIA Ally) and has experience working alongside those with Substance Use Disorders and involvement in the criminal justice system (coordinating care with probation/parole officers).

Val has three adult daughters and she and her husband have a beloved chiweenie, named Jema. She is an avid runner/marathoner and enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, disc golf, yoga, and visiting the farmer’s market.
