Therapist

Shané (Sha-nay) is a Licensed Professional Counselor and earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regent University in 2015 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University in 2021. She currently serves as an adjunct faculty in the Department of Health Sciences and Clinical Practice at Thomas Jefferson University, where she teaches advanced methods in research and the use of evidence synthesis to identify and evaluate existing contributors that impact national and global public health issues and explore solutions to real-world problems to improve total health outcomes.

With over 15 years of experience in behavioral health, Shané has extensive training in mental health and substance-use and related disorders across diverse populations. She has been a licensed counselor for five years, ranging from positions in inpatient, outpatient, and community-based mental health settings. She has worked primarily with adolescents and adults, including older adults and geriatric clients.

She has counseled clients with various difficulties and presenting problems, including mood disorders, neurocognitive disorders, trauma disorders, substance-related disorders, identity, and comorbid disorders. Shané is particularly interested in exploring how navigating social determinants of health can improve symptoms, overall functioning, and quality of life among racially and ethnically marginalized populations in urban areas. She has training in trauma-focused and narrative therapy, often incorporating clients’ cultural practices in session. Shané used a trauma-focused multicultural approach, exploring the meaning and value that you give to your experiences.

Through a collaborative relationship, she serves as a guide toward self-discovery as you work toward achieving your therapeutic goals. Shané believes that change is an active process and counseling is an opportunity for you to explore your contributions in becoming the change you wish to see.
