Samantha Loan, LLMSW

Therapist

Hello! I am a limited licensed clinical social worker, who strives to meet my clients individual needs through creating a safe space and fostering human connection.

I went to Grand Valley State University for my Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Psychology, and my Master’s Degree of Social Work. I started my career working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Therapy, and moved on to work with children and their families through Home-Based Therapy services using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I have worked with children starting as young as 4 years old, adolescents, teens, young adults, adults, and older adults.

My clinical practice is rooted in a behavioralist approach; looking at behaviors to determine what need is trying to be met, and finding healthier ways of meeting that need. My practice is very influenced by psychodynamics, person centered and strengths based approaches, attachment styles, inner child work, as well as community and systems theory. As a neurodiverse therapist myself, and having worked with many neurodiverse families, this is an area I am very passionate about. I am neurodiverse and gender affirming, and trauma informed!

As someone who grew up in the Holland/Zeeland area, I love my community and want to see it thrive! I spend lots of time hanging out with my friends and family. In my downtime I am usually snuggling with my pets (bunny, cat, and dog) and working on a cozy craft!
