Roxana Ivette Zuleta-Amundsen is a Resident in Counseling, under the supervision of Heather Nickerson LPC, NCC, CCTP, CET. Roxana received her master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Roxana is a first-generation immigrant from El Salvador and Spanish is her first language. Roxana is also a Navy veteran. Roxana’s experience in the military and work after the military in child and adult protective services, foster care, adoption, and crisis intervention has given her the knowledge and experience to provide services and support to a diverse range of people from different socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. “I deeply believe that people do the best they can in the circumstances they encounter.”
The therapeutic relationship is a partnership where clients experience the process of healing and personal growth by building on one’s strengths to accomplish their goals. Some of the treatment modalities Roxana uses are Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy (PT), Narrative Therapy (NT), Gottman’s couples’ methodology, SYMBUS for couples, Positive Parenting, Eye Movement Integration (EMI) and other modalities to address trauma symptoms, problem behaviors, and other mental health concerns.
