Mikala is a graduate of Fairfield University with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Mikala has worked with a broad group of individuals ranging from ages six to seventy. Mikala has experience working with severe and persistent mental illness such as bipolar, as well as depression, anxiety, trauma disorders, attention deficit disorders, among other diagnoses. She is also specialized in working with individuals with eating disorders and has worked with adolescents and young adults struggling with eating disorders in residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of care.
Mikala strives to help clients reach their potential through identifying and challenging negative core beliefs as well as helping clients develop more effective and positive coping strategies. Mikala utilizes interventions from multiple evidence based treatments such as Family Based Treatment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Systems Theory, and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. Mikala strongly believes in working with each client to find a treatment modality that works for them specifically.
When Mikala is not working, she is spending time with her family & friends or reading a book with her two cats (Moo & Beans).
