Maritza Reed, LMHC

Bilingual Therapist

Maritza (she/her/ella) is a licensed bilingual psychotherapist with a degree in Mental Health Counseling from Brooklyn College, CUNY. Since 2020, she has supported underrepresented communities, with additional training in research, teaching, childhood development, and crisis intervention. Maritza has extensive experience helping individuals, families, and couples navigate significant life transitions, particularly during the pandemic, when many faced heightened stress and uncertainty. She works on issues including mood and personality disorders, bereavement, cultural concerns, interpersonal challenges, and complex trauma. Drawing from an integrative approach that combines CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, and person-centered therapies, Maritza creates a safe, non-judgmental space to help clients reclaim their agency. She is committed to building on clients’ existing strengths and skill sets while empowering them to develop new strategies to effectively navigate life’s challenges. Maritza is deeply passionate about supporting first-generation individuals and their families in cultivating a better understanding of mental health while addressing cultural biases and misconceptions. Maritza’s goal is for every client to leave each session feeling empowered and with greater autonomy of their journey.

Outside of the clinical space, Maritza enjoys spending quality time with her beloved fur baby, Bowie, and finds peace and inspiration by reconnecting with nature during her downtime.
