LaTerriar “Terri” Turner, MA, MSW, LCSW

Therapist

I chose to work in the mental health field because I have a passion for empowering people. My therapeutic approach is centered around creating a safe, non-judgmental, and unbiased environment where we can collaborate on setting healthy goals and achieving desired outcomes. I am passionate about working with clients ranging from young adults to geriatrics. I understand the unique challenges faced by older adults, including managing chronic illnesses, coping with loss, and navigating life transitions. In our sessions, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic modalities. I have specialized training in DBT and have seen significant positive outcomes using this approach. As a dedicated therapist, my goal is to provide clients with the tools they need to reduce negative symptoms, maintain, or enhance daily functioning, and help them understand that life can still be meaningful and fulfilling, even when it involves challenges and pain. My professional background includes six years as a Probation/Parole Officer and fifteen years of experience working with various populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as community-based programs such as ACTT, CST, and Intensive In-Home.

I hold a B.S. in Criminal Justice and an M.A. in Sociology from North Carolina Central University, as well as an MSW from East Carolina University.
