Kimberly Sanz is a provisionally-licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of New York. She holds a Master of Science in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The College of Saint Rose, a Master of Science in Forensic Mental Health from The Sage Colleges and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Brooklyn College. Kimberly has experience working with clients across the lifespan including folks within foster and residential care, child and adolescent mobile crisis, and caregivers of those with dementia/Alzheimer’s. Although she enjoys working with diverse backgrounds, she primarily is interested and specializes in underserved populations, specifically BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, adoptees and/or those who are exploring identity and working through loss, grief, and trauma. She also specializes in anxiety, depression, and family conflict.
She uses a multicultural, trauma informed lens and mainly works from an Existential/Humanistic perspective with a Feminist approach. Her goal is to value the meanings the client creates through their experiences with loss, grief and trauma so they can lead a life of autonomy and authenticity. Along with these theoretical orientations, Kimberly also uses motivational interviewing and CBT interventions as she believes the client is the expert in their own life and can achieve change by exploring life experiences. If you are looking to find meaning to life, Kimberly welcomes you into a safe space to begin your healing journey!
