Kamela is a provisionally licensed Mental Health Counselor. She earned her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from the University at Albany, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Social Work. Kamela has experience and enjoys working with individuals from various diverse backgrounds and age ranges, previously working at an outpatient mental health clinic. Her specialties include anxiety/panic concerns, identity and self-esteem issues, depression and mood difficulties, life transitions, relationship and marriage conflict, trauma, and OCD. Kamela’s work emphasizes the importance of increasing self-awareness through exploring the ways that our past and present experiences shape our identities, well-being, and future goals. Kamela also integrates different behavioral approaches such as CBT to proactively create change. As a mental health provider, she values creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space for clients to explore who they are while working towards who they want to be. Many of us face the world, and our struggles alone, but the right client-counselor relationship can make all the difference in helping us feel heard, supported, and empowered.
