James has over 25 years of experience providing therapy in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and neurodivergent populations. James initially began working with children and adults with neurodivergence and adjustment to chronic medical needs following his master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Central Arkansas. Over time he focused more heavily on adults with anxiety, trauma, and personality disorders. James returned for his PhD in Counseling Psychology at the University of Memphis, which he completed in 2016. His approach is collaborative in nature, and he tends to operate from a mix of cognitive behavior therapy, humanistic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy. James has specific training in EMDR and utilizes this as part of his approach to working through trauma when warranted.
