Hazuki Okamoto, MA (She/Her)

Therapist

Hazuki is a non-judgmental, creative, and playful therapist. She believes that acknowledging her clients’ culture and family dynamics in therapy gives better insight into their perspectives and experiences.

Hazuki uses a culture-centered therapy model with the understanding that cultural norms influence how we express and process emotions. Hazuki is fluent in Japanese and has worked with clients diagnosed with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and learning disorders, as well as clients working through anxiety, life and/or cultural transitions, and trauma. She has experience providing individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults from a variety of different backgrounds in both Japan and the US.

Hazuki specializes in Drama Therapy – which includes story-making, role-playing, play-based embodied drama therapy, among other techniques – to support clients in using their creativity and imagination to reach their goals. Hazuki also utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) depending on her clients’ needs.

Outside of work, Hazuki enjoys walking, running, and being by the mountains or ocean. She loves to take care of her plants, cook, read books in multiple genres, make art, and watch movies with freshly made popcorn!
