Drawing from Eric’s experiences, both at Sevita Health as an In-home Family Therapist preceded by his time with Volunteers of America Mass (MBVC & Outpatient Behavioral Health), meeting the needs of veterans transitioning from homelessness and incarceration and later as the outpatient/residential therapist. These experiences have provided Eric with a trauma-focused approach and a deeper appreciation of human resilience, which is essential in motivating adults and children alike.
When working with young people and families Eric draws on principles of IFS and the understanding that with adequate protective factors even the toughest of circumstances can be overcome, skills such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques, in addition to diaphragmatic breathing, and other mindfulness-based principles are integrated into his practice. Elements of play and art therapies are also brought into sessions. Using a client-centered approach is central to Eric’s practice when meeting the clinical needs of clients, when developing tailored interventions that aim to address everyone’s unique challenges, by identifying and exploiting one’s strengths.
