Emily Shepard, LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has experience working with individuals 18 years or older from various diverse backgrounds. She graduated with her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Manhattan College in 2019 and with her Master’s in Counseling and Community Psychology from Russell Sage College in 2022. She has experience working at residential programs for individuals with severe mental illness, a college counseling center, and a substance use outpatient, allowing her to develop skills in various diagnoses and areas of concern. Emily has experience with anxiety, depressive disorders, substance use disorders, life transitions, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, relationship issues, stress management, boundary setting, and self-esteem. She uses a collaborative and integrated approach that utilizes modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, person-centered therapy, emotion regulation, radical acceptance, SMART goals, and Adlerian therapy. She feels it is important for her clients to not only feel heard but validated in their experiences. Emily works with her clients to develop skills and strategies to overcome their challenges and have a stronger sense of well-being.
