Dr. Eklund grew up in the vibrant and diverse region of Southern California. In 2011, she made the significant decision to join the US Army as a dedicated radio operator, and her commitment and leadership skills led her to commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in 2014. This accomplishment allowed her the opportunity to pursue her education at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). During her time there, she successfully earned both a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, completing her extensive internships and training at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Washington state.
As an Active Duty Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Eklund devoted herself to providing crucial support to service members, first responders, and their families, specifically addressing complex issues related to trauma, addiction recovery, mood disorders, and various adjustment challenges. She takes a collaborative approach with her patients, guiding them to gain insight into and ultimately overcome negative behaviors, always holding the belief that mental health disorders do not have to be seen as permanent or unchangeable states. Dr. Eklund’s ultimate aim is to empower her patients so they can lead lives that are healthy, fulfilling, and deeply meaningful. She is passionate about psychological assessment and takes a therapeutic approach to testing for diagnostic clarification and treatment planning.
