Dr. Kathryn Eklund, PhD

Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Eklund was born and raised in Southern California. In 2011 she enlisted in the US Army as a radio operator-maintainer and in 2014 she commissioned as a 2LT to attend the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). In 2018, she earned her Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology from USUHS followed by her PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2020. She completed her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral residency while on Active Duty at Madigan Army Medical Center in Washington state. Since that time, she has served as an Active-Duty Clinical Psychologist working with service members and their families. Her primary focus has been working with trauma, suicidality, and addiction. Additionally, she has experience working with individuals across the life span as well as treating mood disorder, adjustment disorders, and severe mental illness.

Dr. Eklund’s philosophy regarding behavioral health disorders is that they do not need to be death sentences – or life sentences. She believes, and the data support, that people can and do heal from behavioral health disorders. She believes that in order to succeed in therapy, she needs to help her clients gain insight and understanding into why they do the things they do and work to address their cyclical patterns. Dr. Eklund strives to work herself out of a job so clients can lead healthy, happy, fulfilled lives.
