Hello, I’m Avery Hicks! I’m a therapist dedicated to helping you build a life rooted in confidence, self-assuredness, and meaningful purpose. I received my bachelor’s degree in Brain & Behavioral Sciences from Purdue University and my master’s degree in Social Work from Indiana University.
My approach blends a multitude of evidence-based practices and mindfulness strategies to help you understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns from a place of curiosity and growth, not judgment and shame. I have experience working across a wide range of ages and backgrounds within a variety of settings—from inpatient hospitals to outpatient clinics—and I especially enjoy supporting adolescents, teens, and young adults navigating identity, life transitions, mood and personality-related challenges, as well as healing from past trauma to evolve into your strongest self.
My work is grounded in person-centered, compassionate care focused on helping you strengthen self-awareness, emotional clarity, and intentional decision-making. Alongside individual work, I facilitate groups focused on healthy dating, boundaries, and self-worth – spaces where you can practice empowerment in real time and feel supported by others who are learning and growing alongside you. In my free time, I enjoy finding ways to move my body that make me feel strong such as pilates or strength-training, reading fantasy books, and spending time with my family, friends, and fur babies.
Therapy is a place where you deserve to feel safe, understood, and hopeful about what’s ahead – somewhere you can take a breath, hear yourself clearly, and begin creating a life that feels like you. If you’re ready to begin your journey toward becoming the version of yourself you feel most connected to, I would be honored to walk alongside you. I invite you to schedule a session and take the next step toward a life that feels aligned, peaceful, and yours.
