Ashley Simmons, LMHC

Therapist

I have worked in the mental health field for 12 years in a variety of different roles and settings, such as support in the hospital setting, residential counseling, case management, individual counseling, in the school setting and family counseling with all ages. I have had six years of direct experience in counseling. I have utilized Multisystemic Therapy, an in-home intensive family and child/adolescent counseling. My experience with individual counseling has been with all ages and a variety of cultures. I have worked with specific refugee populations for over three years. I worked with those with individual trauma and the difficulties adjusting to western culture. I have advanced working knowledge in all age groups struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral issues.

My approach is very individualized, as I feel it is very important for your treatment to be specific to your needs and empower you to reach your goals. I believe it is crucial for you to feel heard and be comfortable to express your emotions. I utilize a variety of techniques and skills drawn from recognized therapeutic modalities; including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, Psycho-education, Behavior modification, Mindfulness and Relaxation. When working with you, I want you to know I prioritize the importance of empathy, compassion, and providing a non-judgmental space for you to be comfortable. In that, we will be able to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. To help you reach your goals, we will identify challenges, ways to achieve your goals and utilize new strengths. The process will help you in identifying and addressing all aspects of your individual life. If you’re ready to take the next steps in prioritizing your mental health. I am here to help you get to where you want to be.
