Ami Ortega, Registered Clinical Social Work Intern

Therapist

Ami is a Fordham University graduate who brings a compassionate presence and a deep commitment to helping others thrive at every stage of life. She has experience assisting clients to navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, grief, chronic health conditions, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and traumatic brain injuries (TBI).

Ami has supported individuals and families from diverse walks of life, including older adults, blended families, first responders, and military service members.

In her sessions, Ami creates a safe, engaging, and client-centered environment where healing can happen through connection and creativity. She tailors her approach to each person’s unique needs, often combining traditional talk therapy with mindfulness techniques, breathwork, and interactive activities such as art, games, crafts, and sensory experiences. Ami skillfully integrates evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into her clinical work.

Known for her upbeat and approachable nature, Ami helps clients feel comfortable exploring their emotions and building the tools they need to grow. Outside the therapy room, she enjoys art, gardening, sudoku, and staying active—nurturing her own balance of mind and body that she encourages in others.
