Alicia Hesse Cleary, MA

Therapist

Alicia Hesse Cleary, MA (she/her/hers), is a clinical mental health counselor (license-eligible) with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University. She completed her clinical training at the Wyman Center for Mental Health at Mount Auburn Hospital/Harvard Medical School and the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center/Harvard Medical School. Alicia specializes in trauma-informed care, integrating talk therapy, expressive arts, art therapy, dance/movement, and mindfulness to support individuals, families, and groups. She creates a compassionate, creative, and client-centered space where people can explore emotional challenges, build resilience, and deepen their sense of identity and purpose. Her experience includes coaching creative-minded young adults and parents in executive functioning, critical thinking, and transitions into adulthood or academic/professional life.

As a psychotherapist, Alicia brings a strengths-based and holistic approach to supporting individuals through life’s many transitions—whether children navigating learning and social challenges and acute familial changes, adults navigating divorce, caregiving for aging parents, parenting neurodivergent children, or coping with grief and loss. She offers guidance to multigenerational families facing dementia or Alzheimer’s care, helps those emerging from inpatient or intensive mental health treatment to reintegrate and rebuild, and supports clients through periods of change with intention and clarity. Rooted in mindfulness and informed by years of experience, Alicia’s practice is grounded in the belief that healing and growth are always possible, at every stage of life.
