Alex is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with experience working alongside a diverse range of clients, with a particular fondness for adolescents and their families. Alex is trained in EMDR, prioritizes cultural competence, and has an inherent passion for continued learning and growth. Her sincere belief is that our individual experiences are interconnected within us, highlighting the importance of context in understanding ourselves in how we have come to be and in moving forward in ways that presently serve us. The mind is a powerful thing, and we have the incredible ability within ourselves to significantly improve our experience, though sometimes we just need a little help in the process.
Whether your intention is to deep-dive into the experiences of your past for understanding and healing, to have a safe space routinely held for you to externally process life events, or anywhere in between- your therapeutic experience will be tailored to your needs and unique to you. In an initial visit you could expect a calming atmosphere with a warm, open presence sprinkled with a little humor as you get to know each other. A history will be taken to further assess the presenting concern(s) while gaining an understanding of the preferred direction of growth. Clients are encouraged to collaborate in creating their personalized plan towards progress. Doing something different in pursuit of fulfillment is one of the most difficult steps and you’re making it happen, that’s a victory worth celebrating.
In Alex’s spare time, she can be found lazing in her comfy couch fortress binging crime documentaries, snacking on junk-food galore, and serving alongside her husband as a maid to their tiny yet very demanding roommates- two year old son, Ezra and furry kitty companion, Norman. Alex is also expecting a final family addition at the tail-end of the year, so please excuse any pregnancy brain and/or associated symptoms that may be along for the ride! 😉
