When a child is struggling, it affects the whole family. When a teen feels overwhelmed, withdrawn, or misunderstood, it can be hard to know how to help. And when you’re a young adult trying to navigate identity, relationships, or stress, it can feel like you’re expected to have it all figured out. Therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and build the tools needed to move forward with confidence.
Hi, I’m André Hinton. I work with children, teens, young adults, and families who are navigating anxiety, trauma, mood challenges, family conflict, and life transitions. My style in the therapy room is direct yet empathetic, calm but energetic, and always grounded in respect. I believe therapy should feel safe, collaborative, and real. You deserve a space where you can speak openly without fear of judgment — and that’s what I aim to create in every session.
I see therapy as a partnership. My role isn’t to tell you who to be or what to do. It’s to walk alongside you, help you better understand yourself, and support you in building practical skills that actually translate into daily life. Whether I’m working with a child struggling to regulate big emotions, a teen processing trauma or identity questions, or a parent seeking guidance through family stress, I approach each situation with patience, curiosity, and compassion.
Clinically, I specialize in anxiety, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, mood dysregulation, depression, grief and loss, men’s issues, adoption and foster care dynamics, relationship concerns, and family conflict. I’m particularly passionate about supporting clients in understanding their triggers, strengthening emotional regulation, and building healthier communication patterns. I also place strong emphasis on empowerment — helping clients recognize their strengths while developing tools for resilience and growth.
I have experience working with BIPOC communities, LGBTQ+ individuals, foster-care systems, and families navigating complex cultural and systemic stressors. Cultural diversity and identity development are not side conversations in my work — they are central. I strive to create an affirming, inclusive space where clients feel fully seen and respected.
My therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), play therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused techniques, and client-centered care. With younger clients, play therapy provides a developmentally appropriate way to express feelings that may be difficult to articulate. With teens and adults, we often explore thought patterns, emotional responses, and behavioral strategies that promote stability and growth.
Outside of therapy, I’m someone who values connection and creativity. I enjoy video games, comic books, music, and pop culture — interests that often help build rapport with younger clients. I’m also a proud cat owner to three very opinionated cats. These parts of my personality allow me to connect authentically while maintaining a professional, grounded presence in the therapy room.
When clients complete their work with me, my hope is that they walk away with insight, resilience, and practical skills they can continue using long after sessions end. I want clients to experience growth, empowerment, and a renewed sense of hope — along with the understanding that healing is an ongoing process. Progress may not always be linear, but with support and commitment, it is absolutely possible.
If you’re considering therapy for your child, your teen, or yourself, I would be honored to support you in taking that next step.
