Hi, my name is Johana Anaya. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate working under the supervision of Julie Weaver, MA, LPC-S, CSTIP. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology, from Texas Southern University. My background participating in athletic teams and events across the country has helped me cultivate a deep sensitivity to cultural differences, enhancing my multicultural competence—an essential skill in a diverse city like Houston.
During my graduate studies, I had the privilege to intern at the Wellness 360 Clinic. There, I developed a strong foundation in counseling techniques, with particular expertise in supporting college-aged individuals with various mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, and relationship problems.
I believe that individuals are the true experts of their own journeys. My mission is to support clients through an integrative approach that embraces solution-focused therapy (SFT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and person-centered therapy. I strive to create an environment where clients feel safe, empowered, and uplifted. I’m convinced that even the smallest steps can lead to significant change. I am eager to support individuals on their healing journeys and contribute to a safe, nurturing environment for all who seek care.
