About Katherine Travis
Kate is a Resident in Counseling with Ellie Mental Health Woodbridge who works with adults and families. She is particularly passionate about supporting families with special needs and has experience helping clients navigate family challenges, life transitions, and the unique demands of military life.
Kate is a hybrid therapist who provides in-person therapy for clients in Woodbridge, Prince William County, and surrounding Northern Virginia communities and virtual therapy for clients across Virginia.
As both a Licensed School Counselor and a military veteran, Kate brings a unique perspective to her clinical work. Her experience includes working in school settings and supporting individuals and families with special needs. Her own military experience also gives her firsthand understanding of military life, deployments, career transitions, and the challenges that can accompany them.
Kate believes that seeking help is one of the most courageous things a person can do. She strives to create a supportive and welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves and approaching life’s challenges with greater confidence. She considers it an honor to accompany clients on their journey with empathy, compassion, and humor.
Kate earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from Marymount University and is a Resident in Counseling working toward Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensure.
Outside of her clinical work, Kate enjoys watching college football, hiking, and coaching basketball and golf for Special Olympics.
