Karen earned her BA in Psychology and Studio Art from Agnes Scott College and her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in systemic sex therapy from National University.
Karen approaches therapy with warmth, curiosity, creativity, and deep respect for the many ways people learn to survive, connect, protect themselves, and make meaning of their lives. She is especially passionate about helping clients explore relationships, intimacy, desire, grief, trauma, and the stories they have carried about who they are, what they need, and what is possible for them.
Her work is grounded in systemic and narrative therapy while integrating IFS and contextual therapy lenses. Karen believes each client’s needs are unique and deserve an individualized, tailored approach; therapy is not one-size-fits-all. She works collaboratively with clients to better understand the patterns, relationships, family systems, cultural messages, and lived experiences that shape how they move through the world. When helpful, Karen also incorporates art therapy-informed techniques and creative exploration to support clients in expressing, processing, and understanding experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
Karen values a therapy space that feels human: safe, affirming, thoughtful, honest, and maybe even a little relieving. She believes healing can include hard conversations, new language, gentle humor, grief, clarity, and the slow work of seeing yourself with more compassion. Her goal is to meet clients with care and curiosity while supporting them as they move toward deeper connection, self-understanding, and change that feels meaningful to them.
Outside the therapy room, Karen enjoys traveling, creating art, getting lost in a good book, and collecting Hello Kitty treasures where ever she can find them. She looks forward to meeting you and walking alongside you in your process.
