Hi, I’m Alyssa! I’m glad you found your way here.
I work primarily with children, teens, and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, self-esteem, big emotions, and the many changes that come with growing up and figuring out who you are. I especially enjoy working with people who tend to overthink, put a lot of pressure on themselves, or have a hard time understanding or expressing what they’re feeling.
I earned my Master of Social Work from Florida State University, where much of my experience focused on supporting children and families. Before becoming a therapist, I worked closely with young children and their caregivers, which continues to shape how I understand the role family and environment can play in a young person’s mental health.
My approach is warm and conversational, while still having direction. I use CBT and incorporate DBT skills, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness based on what fits each client. With children, I also use play therapy and creative activities to help them express themselves in ways that feel natural for their age.
Most importantly, I want to get to know you as a person, not just the symptoms that brought you to therapy. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you get here. We can start wherever you are and go from there.
