About Lulu Burkhauser
I am a Registered Play Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with children utilizing child-centered play therapy and with 35 years’ experience as a parenting educator, I provide parenting support and education so that parents can be active in creating lasting change in their child’s life. I view the therapy process as a collaborative partnership with parents as they navigate the challenges of understanding their child. I also offer adult counseling to provide the experience of expanding your parenting toolbox with approaches that support the changes you wish for you and your family.
I utilize play therapy as it encourages children to connect to their feelings, grow their self-control/frustration tolerance skills, release emotional distress, increase self-understanding, and move towards healing and resilience. I partner with parents to provide support. I’m trained in Child and Parent Relationship Therapy and Interpersonal Neurobiology
