Hi, I’m Leah Johnson—a compassionate therapist who believes healing starts with authenticity, empathy, and maybe even a little humor. Life is complicated—between identity, relationships, trauma, or the pressure to “have it all together,” it’s easy to lose sight of yourself. I’m here to help you find your way back.
I work with teens, adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity struggles, and major life transitions. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are and walk beside you as you rediscover your sense of control, connection, and confidence.
💬 How I Work
My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and person-centered. I believe that each person is the expert on their own life—but sometimes our brains, past trauma, or circumstances can make it hard to trust that truth. Together, we’ll uncover what’s holding you back and build strategies to help you move forward with clarity and strength.
I use evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches to support emotional healing and lasting change. Depending on your needs, therapy may include elements of:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify and shift unhelpful thinking patterns.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help align your actions with your core values.
Mindfulness and Stress Management Techniques to promote calm and resilience.
Strengths-Based and Culturally Responsive Care to honor your lived experiences and identity.
My sessions are conversational and flexible—we’ll use humor when it helps, compassion when it’s needed, and practical tools to help you create meaningful progress.
🌈 Who I Work With
I’m especially passionate about working with:
LGBTQIA+ individuals navigating identity, gender dysphoria, and acceptance.
Clients with chronic mental illness seeking stability and empowerment.
Those healing from religious trauma and reclaiming spiritual or personal freedom.
Teens and young adults coping with school stress, peer relationships, and self-esteem challenges.
Families and adults facing communication struggles or major life transitions.
I also specialize in supporting neurodivergent clients (ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, OCD) and those managing anxiety, depression, PTSD, or personality disorders. My work focuses on helping clients reconnect with their authentic selves and find strength in their unique story.
💡 My Approach
Therapy with me is never about perfection—it’s about progress. You won’t find judgment here, just empathy, curiosity, and real talk. I’ll challenge you when needed and celebrate every step forward. Whether we’re working through trauma, exploring identity, or learning new coping skills, my goal is to create a space that feels safe, validating, and empowering.
You can expect a mix of compassion and lightheartedness in our sessions. Healing doesn’t always have to be heavy—we can make space for laughter, hope, and small victories along the way.
❤️ Why I Love This Work
I became a therapist because I believe deeply in the power of connection. I’ve seen how empathy, humor, and honesty can transform lives—and I want to help you experience that transformation for yourself. Helping people reconnect with who they are beneath the anxiety, pain, or self-doubt is the most rewarding part of my work.
Before joining Ellie Mental Health in Novi and West Bloomfield, I worked with teenagers in school and inpatient psychiatric settings, as well as families and adults in community-based programs. These experiences taught me that resilience takes many forms—and that healing looks different for everyone.
🌿 Outside the Office
When I’m not in session, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, exploring the outdoors, and finding joy in the small, everyday moments that keep life balanced.
At Ellie Mental Health, we believe therapy should feel human—down-to-earth, supportive, and even a little fun at times. You don’t have to have everything figured out; you just have to show up, and we’ll figure it out together.
If you’re ready to start your journey toward self-discovery, healing, and growth, let’s connect. Schedule today, and let’s help you rediscover the most authentic version of you.
