About Jim Morris
My mission is to create a supportive, emotionally safe, and affirming environment in the therapy space, where you can gain hope for change. I have over three years of expertise treating adults of all ages as a trained therapist, and over seven years of experience working in mental health and substance abuse treatment. I partner with my clients to create treatment plans that address but are not limited to mental health disorders, addictions, failure to launch, grief, difficulties with motivation, and challenging family dynamics. I incorporate aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness-based practices into my work.
As a trauma-informed therapist and addictions counselor, I believe that many of our challenges are rooted in trauma and childhood attachment. Growth can happen when we are able to develop internal validation and develop a positive self-concept. I believe much of our work happens between therapy sessions, and that evolving treatment plans are effective in achieving long-term goals.
My inspiration to become a therapist stems from clinicians helping me improve my own mental health. Their passionate, effective, and empathic work was transformational in me choosing to work in this field. I saw working in mental health as an opportunity to be of service and to help people improve the quality of their lives. Therapy doesn’t feel like work to me, but is instead a professional avenue to live my core values of empathy, authenticity, and creativity.
Together, we can align to understand and explore your inner experiences to create a sense of self-empowerment, fulfillment, and coping skills to sustain lifelong growth.
