Jim’s career as a therapist began over 20 years ago, mainly working with family adjustment to chronic medical issues and disability, both acquired and developmental in nature. Over time he returned for his doctorate where he focused more exclusively on adults with anxiety, trauma, and personality issues. He returned to the northeast as part of this work and eventually settled in NH where he was initially working with a group practice, then a small nonprofit in Northern NH where he was a clinician and clinical director, then eventually worked in private practice for a number of years years before moving to the Boston area due to his significant other’s work. His training over the years started with behavioral therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, moving towards humanistic therapy, existential therapy, EMDR, and third wave cognitive behavioral therapies (e.g. ACT, DBT).
