When you’re the person everyone counts on, it can be hard to admit you’re running on empty. Maybe you’re a professional carrying the weight of work, a parent balancing everyone else’s needs, or a new or expecting parent adjusting to a season you didn’t quite imagine. From the outside, you may seem to have it all together, while internally you feel overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, or disconnected from yourself. You don’t have to wait until you’re completely burned out to ask for support.
I’m Allie Cobb, PLPC, and I work with adults navigating burnout, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and the challenges of parenting and postpartum adjustment. I’m especially drawn to working with professionals and parents who spend so much time caring for others that their own needs get pushed aside. You may be used to being the dependable one, the problem-solver, or the person who keeps everything moving. Therapy can be an opportunity to step out of that role, reconnect with yourself, and figure out what you need, too.
I believe meaningful change begins with feeling safe enough to be honest about what’s really going on. My approach is warm, genuine, and nonjudgmental, with an emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship where you feel heard rather than judged or pressured to have all the answers. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and EMDR to support your individual goals. Through EMDR, we can explore how past experiences may still be shaping your emotions, beliefs, and responses today.
Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and our work will be guided by your needs, experiences, and pace.
Whether you’re trying to recover from burnout, navigate the complicated emotions of parenthood, process painful experiences, or understand patterns that no longer serve you, you don’t have to figure everything out alone. You can be grateful for your life and still feel overwhelmed by it. You can be strong and still need support. Both can be true.
If you’ve been putting yourself last, waiting for things to slow down, or wondering whether what you’re experiencing is enough to warrant therapy, consider this your invitation. You don’t have to have the right words or a plan for where to begin. We can start right where you are, one step at a time.
