Adela is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families in home, community, and outpatient settings. Her approach to therapy is person-centered, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and tailored to each client’s unique needs. She respects the client’s right to self-determination and seeks to empower clients to become more autonomous while supporting and advocating alongside them.
She works best with clients who are highly motivated and ready to take action steps to make changes. Adela is passionate about supporting and educating parents/caregivers to better address and meet their child’s academic needs through their child’s school, such as obtaining an IEP or 504 plan. Adela values and prioritizes creating a strong therapeutic relationship with clients. She utilizes evidence-based practices, including Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She is additionally trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Adela aims for clients to feel safe, seen and heard, in hopes that their experience in therapy feels collaborative, genuine, and meaningful to help them achieve their goals. In her free time, Adela enjoys walking at parks, doing arts and crafts, visiting Longwood Gardens, and going to new restaurants. She’s also a fan of the color blue, Disney, and Studio Ghibli movies.
