Jamie Szepesi, LCSW

Therapist

My experience as a clinician includes a wide range of social work and clinical treatment settings, including acute and residential inpatient units, group therapy, and work with children and families. My experience also includes pregnancy and postpartum care, addiction recovery, and supporting individuals impacted by gang affiliation, HIV/AIDS, human trafficking, and commercial sex work. My passion for social work has extended internationally to Nairobi, Kenya, where I had the opportunity to serve and learn from marginalized communities.

As a therapist, I bring a high level of dedication, compassion, and respect for cultural sensitivity and the unique experiences of each individual. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. My goal is to empower clients to better understand themselves and make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives.

My approach to treatment is integrative, humanistic, client-centered, and strengths-based, grounded in the belief that every individual has the capacity for growth and healing. I tailor my work to meet each client’s unique needs, drawing from evidence-based practices to support their goals.

I have specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which I use to help clients process trauma, reduce distress, and build resilience. EMDR is a powerful approach that supports the brain’s natural ability to heal from difficult or overwhelming experiences, and I incorporate it thoughtfully based on each client’s readiness and needs.

I also have a strong focus on play therapy, particularly when working with children and adolescents. Through play-based interventions, I help younger clients express emotions, process experiences, and develop coping skills in a way that feels natural and developmentally appropriate. I work closely with families to support growth both in and outside of the therapy space.

My areas of service include children and families, adolescents, parenting, divorce, pregnancy and postpartum care, addiction, depression and anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and immigrant and refugee adjustment.
