Anqi Zhao is a Counselor Trainee and graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Wright State University. She is from China, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology. She has lived in the United States since 2015 and worked as an addiction counselor for four years.
Human-centered and depth-oriented, Anqi is especially interested in helping clients explore patterns and develop insight. She has also grown to value the practical side of growth: action, repetition, coping skills, structure, support, and mind-body connection. She is naturally patient, good at meeting people where they are, and continually inspired by the potential people discover through adversity.
Anqi works with adults and some adolescents. She embraces the variety of her clinical experiences and is interested in developing specialty areas in executive functioning challenges, behavioral addictions, multicultural exploration, personality-related concerns, and legal system involvement. She is also knowledgeable and affirming of diverse sexuality, relationship structures, and relationship dynamics.
Anqi grew up as a reader. She has two dogs and two cats, enjoys nature and hiking, and values time spent with loved ones, in support groups, and at community events.
