Annika Barnwell is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with youth, teens, adults, and families navigating challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, and life transitions. She brings over six years of experience providing therapy in community, school-based, and clinical settings, with a strong focus on supporting underserved and at-risk populations.
Annika takes a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to therapy and believes that meaningful change happens when clients feel safe, understood, and empowered. She incorporates evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients better understand their emotions, develop practical coping skills, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others. Her goal is to create a supportive and collaborative space where clients can explore their experiences, build resilience, and move toward lasting wellness.
Annika earned her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Winston-Salem State University.
In her spare time, Annika spends time with her family and coaches girls volleyball.
