Darby is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist born and raised in South Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Clayton State University, and her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mercer University. Her approach is grounded in a BioPsychoSocial perspective, recognizing that our well-being is shaped not only by our individual experiences, but also by our relationships with family, friends, work, community, and ourselves. She takes a collaborative, solution-focused approach to therapy, helping clients unpack the challenges they are experiencing while developing practical skills and solutions that align with who they are and how they want to live. Rather than telling clients what they should do, Darby believes her role is to understand each client’s unique context, values, and perspective and help them navigate life’s challenges in a way that feels authentic to them.
Darby believes that clients are the experts on their own lives. Her role is to help them better understand themselves, recognize patterns, and create meaningful change. She places a strong emphasis on self-identity, values, and honesty throughout the therapeutic process. She believes that genuine change begins with being willing to be honest about where you are, where you want to go, and what may be getting in the way.
Darby particularly enjoys working with clients experiencing anxiety and ADHD-related challenges and is a queer-affirming therapist. She strives to create an open, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel respected and accepted as they explore their identities, relationships, and life experiences.
Outside of therapy, Darby enjoys watching documentaries and reading fiction novels, particularly stories featuring anxious main characters. She also has a love for cows and enjoys hiding little rubber ducks around her office for clients to discover. If you’re ready to better understand yourself, navigate life’s challenges, and create change that feels true to who you are, Darby would love the opportunity to hear your story.
