Sometimes “I’m fine” stops being enough.
Maybe your mind won’t stop racing through every “what if,” or getting through the day takes more energy than anyone realizes. Maybe something painful from the past keeps showing up in the present. Or maybe you’re a parent who wants to help your child or teen and isn’t sure where to start.
Wherever you are, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
I’m Emily Giacomantonio, a Master’s level Limited License Psychologist (LLP) and I work with children, teens, and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and loss, life transitions, and other times when life simply feels like a lot.
My goal is to make therapy feel approachable, a space where you can slow down, be yourself, and feel truly heard.
Therapy without judgment:
I believe that therapy starts with genuine connection. You deserve a space where you can talk about the confusing, frustrating, sad, scary, or completely unexpected parts of life without worrying about being judged.
I take a collaborative, person-centered approach, which means you are an active part of therapy. I’m not here to tell you how you should feel or hand you a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, we’ll get curious about what’s happening, identify what matters to you, and work out what might help.
With children and teens, I focus on creating a supportive environment where they can express themselves, understand their emotions, and develop healthier ways to cope. When clinically appropriate, I also incorporate family sessions, since helping a young person sometimes means supporting the people who love them, too.
What therapy looks like:
I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), humanistic, and existential approaches. In everyday terms, that means we’ll explore how your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and values connect.
Together, we can identify patterns that may keep you feeling stuck, develop practical coping strategies, deepen your self-awareness, and work toward goals that feel meaningful to you.
Change doesn’t have to happen overnight. Sometimes it begins with understanding yourself a little better today than you did yesterday.
About me:
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a nursing assistant in a hospital, caring for people through difficult medical situations. That experience strengthened my ability to listen closely, stay calm under pressure, and offer compassionate support when people need it most. I later earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of Psychology.
In my spare time, I enjoy painting, drawing, and spending time with my cat. I try to bring that same sense of curiosity and patience into the therapy room.
You don’t need to have it all sorted out. Whether you’re looking for therapy for yourself or searching for someone who can connect with your child or teen, taking that first step can feel daunting. I invite you to come as you are, with your questions, worries, and uncertainty.
We’ll decide where to start together.
If you’re curious whether we’d be a good fit, I’d love to hear from you. Schedule a time with me at Ellie Mental Health in West Bloomfield.
